I’ve had a good day so far. I had very little paperwork and mail to get through this morning which left me with plenty of time to get my Guild reports written. I received a definitive answer on the measurements for the Guild’s cookbook yesterday so I entered a recipe so I could give an example to the committee at tonight’s meeting for final approval.
I spent the rest of the morning doing the free-motion quilting on Joy, the name I’ve given my wall hanging. During the 12 Days of Christmas sale from an online store I purchased a Sew Slip product. It sits on (and sticks to) the sewing machine cabinet with a hole large enough for your feed dogs to work through. It’s purpose is to allow your fabric to glide under the needle without any tugging. I used it for my in-the-ditch quilting yesterday and gave it a whirl with free-motion today. I am impressed; I think I did a better job than I often do but that may also be because of the extra practice I had doing my Christmas projects. The only downside I’ve noticed is that I can’t easily see how much thread is left in the bobbin.
We had an appointment at the bank this afternoon. What could have been a fifteen minute meeting took almost an hour; Pat and Rene like to talk about the markets, which leads to talk about travel, which leads to talk about wine, which leads to talk about the back country! It’s good to know our money is in friendly hands!
I’m using a motif on the border of Joy; I haven’t done this often and I have some decisions to make. Do I stitch using free-motion or my walking foot? Do I use a thread that will blend into the background or a thread that will show? I’m feeling bold so I think I’ll go with free-motion and a contrast colour.
