Just like greeting old friends

After a lovely long break from sewing I’m having trouble getting “back into it”. Am I finding other things to do rather than sewing, but are they really things that need to be done or am I just avoiding it?

I was up early enough that I should have been able to get a good day’s work in but I’ve puttered the day away; it is mid-afternoon and I’ve only managed to get a binding attached to a project for the Guild meeting on Thursday. I have a new “Get Yourself Organized” calendar for January; today’s task was to tackle the paperwork. I caught myself up on that last week and the only other paper project I could think of was to sort through my filing cabinet. I don’t think I did it after Pat’s year-end last year so there are two-years worth of papers to sort through and either refile or shred. That just seemed like too much work for Day 1 so I didn’t do it. The Guild’s recipe book could fit under that category but the committee are still in discussions as to whether or not the measurements should be in standard form (1 cup), metric (250 ml) or mixed; I’ve been promised a decision on Tuesday.

I went out and did a few errands this morning. I hadn’t been at the post office since Christmas Eve so the clerks and I were wishing each other a Happy New Year. They were saying how nice it is to be over Christmas and the rush; I’ll be back tomorrow with another parcel to send away so they won’t miss me for long. I had to pick up more wrapping paper and tape on my trip out today as we used the last of what I had on Christmas parcels.

There may be enough time left in the afternoon to finish off another project for the Guild meeting. It is a small wool felt appliqué so it shouldn’t take too long.
