Elizabeth and I were chatting this morning; she said their weather had taken a turn for the worse and I replied that it was windy and rainy here but not really a storm. A short time later I looked out the window in my studio and I could see a rainbow. But by the time I headed out for my mail run the ferries had been cancelled and a storm was definitely in progress.
Being out in the wind and rain isn’t pleasant but I had those packages to get in the mail so out I went. The first thing I noticed when I went out the door was the garbage in the carport. Where did it come from? The wind blew over my recycling bin, the lid came off and all my paper and plastic bits were strewn in our yard, in the neighbour’s yards and far down the hill. I had to go searching for the lid but it wasn’t too hard to find – I just followed the paper trail!
I’ll have to clean the mess up eventually but I’m not going out there while it is still stormy. Perhaps the wind will blow more of it further away and I’ll have less to pick up. And with the rain water running down the street a lot of the paper will be mush and will disappear on its own.
I’m adding a better recycling bin to my Christmas wish list!
