Now I know

I was desperate to get some cards done today so I picked a few bits from unused projects off my bulletin board and started designing. When I make a project that has extra “bits” left over I seldom throw them away. And if I make something that isn’t quite right I also keep it pinned to my board. Today I know why. A little reverse stitching here and some cutting there and I was able to make three cards. The new cards are all different, but use a similar idea and if seen together you would probably know they were destined, at one time, to be used together.

I’m always losing my sewing needles and today I figured out why. I was adding pins to one of my pin cushions and found about six needles that were hidden inside. The needles were shorter than the pin cushion was fluffy (if you know what I mean) and the top and the bottom were completely buried. They were all sharp and shiny so I added them to a different pin cushion and, hopefully, I’ll be able to find them when I need one.

The ladies from BOND took me out for lunch today – the two current coordinators arranged it and we were also joined by the volunteer that I started with (we were the only two for several years) as well as another coordinator who will be coming back from her maternity leave in January. When I left the program they had five volunteers but they are down to only a couple again (and they say they aren’t as reliable as Marianne and I were). I felt guilty butI  didn’t come forward and tell them I’d start again (although I think one of them was hoping I would); I did tell them that if the menu item could be prepared ahead of time (a casserole or soup came to mind) that I’d be happy to cook it at home on the weekend and they could just pick it up for Monday’s lunch. The thought of going back to that small kitchen and rushing to get a meal done on time is too daunting, but I can help them out in this way until they find new volunteers.

I have a hand stitching project that I need/should/want to have finished for the Guild meeting tomorrow night so I’ll spend the rest of the afternoon and evening on that.
