After a disappointing day yesterday I spent most of the day doing things that gave me more pleasure.
I started my Christmas/birthday shopping this morning. I have four family birthdays between now and the end of January, along with Christmas preparations in between. Shopping is a bit easier because I do it all online and generally have gifts sent to the respective homes. The shopping and shipping are easily handled, but the gift ideas are much more difficult. I’ve made a start and my shopping cart at my favourite online store is almost full!
I missed the sewing bee at the Guild last Tuesday and I was particularly disappointed because they were having instruction on a new hexie project. I was very happy to find out that the instructor is coming back for one more session this week. I looked through the pattern and wasn’t able to determine the various pieces of fabric, interfacing and stabilizer I was supposed to cut, but I knew the size and number of the hexies I required. I have them all cut and basted, and all but one are stitched together. I’m sure I’ll be behind everyone else, but at least I’m not starting from scratch.
Our friend Greg is coming over on the afternoon ferry for a visit. He is living in Nanaimo now but was doing some house/dog sitting in Comox this weekend and volunteered to come across. Pat has some parsnip soup simmering away; I prepared a bed in case he decides to spend the night with us.
