Yesterday, on my way to the bee, I stopped to put a bag of garbage in our bin. I was surprised to see the can tipped over, the garbage “gone through”, and the compost bin moved slightly on its pad. As we were cleaning up the mess we speculated on what might have done it; we (with the help of a neighbour) decided it was probably racoons. Today was garbage day and when I went out this morning to put the bin at the curb I was pleased to see that nothing had disturbed it overnight. I noticed though that there was a large puncture in the lid of the bin; when Pat looked at it he decided it was more likely a bear had made a visit. We’ve never had a problem with bears, or raccoons for that matter; I’ll be listening more closely for noises in the night and perhaps we can catch something in the act.
I had some laundry that needed to be put away and after that was done I did a bit of rearranging in the laundry room. We have a shelf that we keep light bulbs, garbage bags and various other things that don’t have a home anywhere else. Pat found it hard to get at things on the bottom shelf in part because he is left-handed and in part because the bottom shelf is often buried behind other things. So I moved the shelf around and did a bit of tidying up; when Pat came in from his errands he didn’t notice the change but when I called his attention to it he says it will be better!
I spent the rest of the morning updating the Guild’s blog and getting my report ready for the next meeting. I won’t be here for the meeting but I submitted it by email so it can get into the minutes. I’m waiting on some answers from Tech Support regarding my cookbook software; until I get those answers I’m not doing anything more on the recipe book.
I spent most of the afternoon getting things ready to take to Victoria with me – not clothes, but sewing projects! I have a couple of English paper piecing projects – one is an older UFO and one is new (my Library book for December). I had to print and cut my own paper templates for the second project and that took more time than you might expect. I also had to cut a fabric and paper template for the leaves that go on the piece. Once the prepping was done everything fit into a very small package so it won’t take up much room in my suitcase. I hope to add one (or more) knit or crochet projects for my trip but I don’t think I’ll get at that today. A quick glance around my room and I know that my next task is some clean up!
We’re off to another movie tonight.
