Our House Concert was a hit; The Honey Dewdrops were great performers and a very nice couple. They have been on the road for six weeks, and have almost another month to go before getting home to Baltimore. Yesterday was a day off for them so they spent an extra night with us and we had a chance to show them around town a little bit. They had heard of The Magpie (restaurant) so we went there for brunch. They thought they’d like to see the inside of the theatre so we took in a movie last night. I said my good byes to them last night as I was off to the sewing bee today.
I was working on a new project today, but I’ll catch you up on the bit of sewing I did during the time I waited for our guests to arrive and while they had their naps and sleep-ins. I finished my Guild Block of the Month; although the instructions called for three fabrics the picture clearly showed four different fabrics. I had a photo of a block that someone did at last week’s bee so I followed that for my placement of colours. I’m not thrilled with the way it looks and I may do another one using a fourth fabric. Someone at the bee today had used only three fabrics but she used the three fabrics in different places than I did. So there are lots of options if I want to start fresh.
Today I was working on the quilt I’ll donate to the Oncology ward at the hospital. It is from a library book so whatever blocks I get done will be my book review for the next meeting. And speaking of the library; we have had a bunch of books donated and Nina has received an order of books so I’ll be doing some data entry over the next few days. I’m helping put together a recipe book for Hands Across the Water next fall and I was handed the recipes today. The committee will have their next meeting in a couple of weeks so I’ll try to have a sample done for that meeting.
Although I’d like to have a quiet evening at home tonight we’re off to a fund-raising event; it’s a dinner and a silent auction but I don’t expect it will be a late night.
