I’m sure you can imagine how happy I was last night to see one of the neighbourhood bears. I glanced out the window on my way to bed and there he was – crossing the street from the Library and continuing up Omineca. He wasn’t visible for long as he was behind the fence when he walked up the street and then cut through the neighbour’s yard two houses away. But it is my first sighting in a year that has been full of bear encounters.
We had a late start this morning; it was 9:30 before I crawled out of bed and Pat was a few minutes later. In my defence I was awake for a couple of hours in the middle of the night. I read for awhile and didn’t expect I would get back to sleep but I was glad I did.
The rest of the morning was taken over with cleaning. I did the vacuuming and a load of laundry. Pat volunteered to steam clean the kitchen floor so I gladly accepted. We’ll set up the chairs tomorrow morning, and I’ll do a final clean of the kitchen counters and get the dishes out for the concert. Our guests arrive on the noon ferry.
As I was dusting the bedroom I decided to use a different method for my storing my jewellery. Rather than have it laying out in various boxes and bags on top of the dresser, I was able to find room in one of my dresser drawers. I threw out some penny coin wrappers, moved a few buttons to my button box, moved some of the items I use only for travelling with to another drawer and all of a sudden my side of the dresser top is clear. I still have one of Grandma Erickson’s boxes and Mum’s mirror sitting on top but they are lovely to look at (now that they are clear of dust and clutter).
I’m going to try and get my second Guild Mystery Block done this afternoon. I won’t be at the next meeting but I don’t want to get behind the way I have done with my Seminole piecing. I think the Seminole will be a good project to take to the Retreat.
