Finally

I finally caught up on my laundry today. I’ve been doing at least one load a day since I got home but today was the first day I felt comfortable in hanging the clothes out on the line. It is cool, but there is quite a good breeze so I’m hoping most of them will dry without having to put them through the drier.

Block 1And I finally got back to some sewing today. With all my deadlines met (more or less) I started on Block 1 of the Guild’s Block of the Month challenge. I felt very relaxed, even when I had to restitch a couple of the seams. I was concerned about my fabric choices (particularly the brown) but I think they worked okay in this block. The orange and the brown are batiks, and I’ve loved the blue fabric since I first saw it in the store. I bought a bit of it right away and made a small project bag, then I bought a bolt end at a good price, and when it went into the sale bin and I bought what was left.

I’ll be working on my tablecloth over the next few days. I pieced the backing fabric and cut the flannel to size this afternoon. Everything needs to be pressed (and the kitchen floor scrubbed) but I’ll be ready to get down on my hands and knees tomorrow to do some sandwiching. This is one of the projects on my UFO list that I submitted to the Guild. It would be nice to get something crossed off that list before I start the new fall classes.
