The discussion last night on “The Power of Your Plate” was very interesting, but not well attended. The program was sponsored by the Library so they had a host present. There were two presenters, and the audience included the presenters’ daughter and me. Their talk was about their journey through some difficult health situations, and the foods that they ate (and eliminated) to get them to where they are today. Because the audience was so small it was a bit awkward when it came time for the Q & A. One of the presenters is a bio-kinesiologist and she demonstrated (on me) the way she tests your body against certain foods. I’d like to say I’m going vegan, but I’m not quite ready for that. In the meantime they have inspired me to cut out (well cut down at least) coffee, black tea, dairy, and meat. Wish me luck!
With all the emphasis on health, and after several discussions regarding blood pressure during our Panorama trip, I thought perhaps I should be checking mine on a more regular basis. Stacia says we should do a check four times in a row, with minutes between. We throw away the first reading and average the remaining three.
After my walk to the post office it seemed like a good time to sit down and take some readings. Somehow my blood pressure monitor had come unattached and, for the life of me, I couldn’t figure out how it was supposed to wrap around my arm. After fifteen minutes of struggling (and probably raising my pressure enormously) I went to my computer and looked up the manual. I waited another five minutes before attempting to get another reading and I’m happy to say everything was well within my bounds.
Pat’s accounting has been sent to the accountant and I got four parcels in the mail (to Regan, Dylan and Taylor, Caye and Jackie). I even have had time to do a bit of tidying up – my I’m A Farmer’s Daughter pattern and fabric are in a bin, and I picked a pattern and fabrics for my Guild challenge. Things are a long ways from clean though so I think I’ll head back to it.
