I realized as I wrote my journal yesterday and talked about needing to wait for a label decision for my Family Place quilt that I hadn’t done a label for Elizabeth’s quilt. So that was my first task for the day. I planned a fancier label than normal and I was able to test out the light table I purchased a week ago; it was awesome. In no time at all I had all the tracing done that I needed to do and was on to the stitching. Since I hadn’t hand stitched the binding to the quilt yet I was able to sew the label into the seam; they say you should do that to prevent theft, but in my case I do it to ensure at least two of the corners remain stitched.

By the time I finished that project it was time for lunch. After a break I started work on a card. It is more or less my own design and again the light table was called upon and it worked liked a charm. I was working with an appliqué pattern and was able to simply turn my design upside down and I could see well enough to do the tracing. In case you’re wondering, for appliqué you have to reverse the picture or it ends up backwards – been there, done that way too many times to ever forget again! The card is ready now for the hand stitching on the binding.

Since I was making such good progress I started in on another pair of cards. The pattern I’m using calls for half-square triangles and I’ve been wanting to try the Magic 8 method that was demonstrated at the Guild several months ago. I seldom need eight half-squares but this pattern allowed me to try it. It’s too early to tell if it will work out as promised, but I can’t see why it won’t.

No need to look for a project for the evening – I have several choices!
