Author: Emma Donoghue
Mary Saunders, her mother, step-father and small brother are eking out a living in London in 1748. Mary longs for a richer life and is particularly drawn to the flamboyant prostitutes she sees on the street. When she is kicked out of her home she turns to the streets to make a living. The book is based on historical facts which made it more interesting to me.
I don’t think it was as good as Room, but I liked it better than Frog Music (other titles by this author).
