I’m done

Thursday, June 4, 2015

My first task this morning was to ensure I had all the reports ready for the Guild meeting tonight. I was confident I was finished but when I looked through my email there were a couple of things that needed to be posted to the blog. With the year winding down there hasn’t been much activity on the blog’s information pages, but I am still required to write a report. Since tonight is the Annual General Meeting I realized I needed an annual report for both Facebook and the blog. Facebook was easy, but it took a bit of work to compile the stats I needed for the blog report. I was almost finished when I realized our year includes June, July and August, which I hadn’t taken into account in my first roll through the numbers. The reports are all finished now, my bag is packed, and I even have a few items for Show and Tell!

For the past few months the Red Cross office in Nanaimo have been planning a process for our equipment. They have a locked storage container outside of the hospital and they expect (well now they would just like) us to move unsanitized equipment out to the shed. The equipment in the shed would be returned to Courtenay on a regular basis (we don’t believe them) and new equipment would be brought in. I dug my heels in from the very beginning but today, as our 80-year-old convenor was about to make two trips to the shed with broken equipment, I relented and went along with her. The process was much easier than I had anticipated and, while I’m not sold on the idea, I won’t categorically refuse to do it.

My final Guild meeting as Treasurer happens tonight and I couldn’t be happier. I had a call this afternoon asking me to consider the Vice President position but I was able to say no with a clear conscience because I am on the Library committee now. The person taking over as Treasurer is the person that I took over from so I won’t even need to do any training. Would it be rude to pass all the books to her tonight?
