A new job

I had let it be known at the Tuesday bees that I was looking forward to not holding a Guild position, other than the blog and Facebook, for the next two years. When one of the founding members got down on one knee this morning I knew I was in trouble! I have accepted a position on the Library Committee. Nina has chaired the position before so I’m not too worried about my duties; she will tell me what to do and I will do it. The two ladies who were on the previous committee seldom showed up for meetings so it can’t be that onerous a task (she says now).

I think it will be a good fit for me though. It will give me a better chance to see what is available in the library; the shelves are full but not organized in any way so if you are looking for a specific technique or author they are hard to find. For some time I’ve wished people who take books out would give a brief review of the book so others could hear more about it. The last book I borrowed (in fact was given by Nina) was on English Paper Piecing and I thought I would make something from it for Show and Tell and also review the book at the meeting. Nina has talked about some sort of online inventory and I think that would help spread the word about what we have, although online inventory systems have not proven easy in the past (think Red Cross).

I had time to stitch a few blocks together today for my Fat Quarter quilt. I’m hoping to come up with a name for it. The pattern is a 10″ Square quilt but I made my blocks 9″. I’ve used Fat Quarters in it but a Fat Quarter quilt doesn’t seem like a good name either. I have lots of time (and lots to do) before it is finished and needing a label so maybe I’ll come up with something in the meantime.
