Up and at it

By 9:30 this morning I already had two loads of laundry hung on the rack outside and the grass in the yard and on the boulevard cut. Pat mentioned yesterday that all his short-sleeved shirts were in the laundry; his not-so-subtle hint for me. It seemed like I had just done laundry but the days do have a way of slipping by quickly. When I put a few items in the drier from the first load I found all of Pat’s shirts; I hung them outside last time but they weren’t quite dry when I brought them in. As usual, the last load in the drier was forgotten.

While I was finishing up in the yard Pat went out to get us coffee. When he came home I was cooling off on the deck with my book. He only mentioned in passing that there was an estate sale at a house up the street and I was off like a shot. After last week’s success I thought, since I could walk, it wouldn’t be like I was making yard sales a Saturday habit. I almost came away empty-handed but spotted a small cabinet behind a door. There was no price on it so I asked if it was for sale and it was. I haven’t decided what I will store in it, but I’ve found a spot for it. The finish matches the dressers that I store my fabric in, as well as my computer desk.

I was invited to a family picnic at Willingdon Beach today; BOND (Babies Open New Doors) is 20 years old and was celebrating with their parent group PREP (Powell River Employment Program) who were celebrating 30 years. Pat and I wandered down to the beach and had a hot dog but there wasn’t much else going on. The BOND ladies were just getting ready to start an egg race for the kids but we didn’t stick around for it. Since we were already out and about we carried on out to Lund.

Once I got home I headed up to Galena Bay; she was advertising a book sale and there were a few I wanted to check out. I came home with two books, one called “Piping Hot Curves” and another how-to book on rug punching. I also bought a few pieces of fabric that were on sale (for my Seminole blocks), some rick-rack for a card idea, and a fat quarter for our Guild year-end party.
