Reprieve (times two)

Today was supposed to be my BOND day but the folks at Public Health double-booked the room and we were the losers. The coordinators tried to find another location but were unsuccessful so the group lunch was canceled. I must say I felt a bit like a winner not having to go in to work!

I haven’t touched the Guild books since the last meeting and I knew there was going to be a lot of work to do before the next meeting. I thought I’d better get at it today, but when I looked at the calendar I noticed that the meeting isn’t until next week. Oh boy, a bonus quilting day!

I have finished the quilting on two of the three Mother’s Day projects. I had a plan with the first one; some of the results I liked, some I didn’t. I changed my plans just a bit with the second one and I’m much happier, although I will tweak the plan just a bit for the third.

I did some free-motion quilting this morning and thought the stitches were a bit small and the piece didn’t move as easily as it usually does. I assumed it was because of the thickness from the appliqué. The piece was long done when, for some reason this afternoon, it dawned on me that I hadn’t lowered my feed dogs for the free-motion section. Duh!

I had a mishap just a few minutes ago which makes me think I should quit for the day. Space is always tight around my sewing machine and computer desktop. I am quite aware that I should clear all around my workspace before I start quilting, but that isn’t much fun so I tend to work around the piles. I got caught today though when the case I store my bobbins in crashed to the floor. Of course the lid hadn’t been replaced (who did that?) so now I have bobbins scattered all over the floor.

I’d best sort out that mess and get my gear together for the bee tomorrow. We’re off to the movies tonight.
