Author: Jane Hawking
Although I enjoyed the movie The Theory of Everything, which was based on this book, I felt I wanted a bigger picture of the subject. Boy, did the movie leave a lot out. The book is a look at the day to day life of the Hawking family. Jane Hawking, for the most part, was on her own as far as caring for her disabled husband and their three children. She was a constant travel companion for Stephen, even though she feared flying. As his disability increased, he continued to reject outside help. Without Jane, Stephen Hawking would not have been the celebrity that he is today. The movie was essentially a portrayal of Stephen’s life; what they should have done was focus on her life.
