My plan was to do laundry and some cleaning this morning and then move on to sewing in the afternoon. That plan worked out but not necessarily in the order I anticipated. We still don’t know if we will have a house guest over the weekend but since Tuesday and Thursday are already busy I thought it best to get a head start.
I started the laundry and as soon as I reached for the detergent I remembered I was almost out. I only had three loads of washing to do and by turning the jug upside down and letting it drain I was able to stretch it enough to get it all done. I started vacuuming but wasn’t too far into it when I realized I wasn’t getting any suction. Pat had already gone down to his studio; I didn’t want to disturb him so I started my sewing. Eventually we both ended up on the middle level; Pat sorted out the vacuum problem and I was able to finish up.
After a weekend on other projects I got back to Elizabeth’s House; Block 5 is pieced and I’ll do the little bit of appliqué it requires at the bee tomorrow. I looked in my manual and Pearl, the machine I take to and from the Guild, has a switch for lowering the feed dogs. Since some of my small pieces will have free motion quilting on them I think I’ll see how it works. Better to try that at home though than with a crowd watching and listening.
I still have some packing up to do for tomorrow and, if there is any time left before supper, I might do a little more sewing.
