I spent the morning finishing up the September cards. I peeked ahead for my card reminders for October since we’ll be away for most of the month. There were no reminders. I hope I haven’t missed anyone but I do remember last year having a good long break for cards. Of course I said last year (in December) that I should have been working on some Christmas projects when there were no cards due. Perhaps I’ll do that this year when we get back from our trip.
I felt a bit at a loss after lunch. I have a long list of things to do before we leave for Ireland, but I didn’t feel like doing any of them. I have tons of sewing I could have done, but I didn’t feel like doing any of it either. Am I jet-lagged? I decided to stop wasting my time and made a few phone calls to find Red Cross volunteers for when I’m away; I didn’t do too badly as I filled half of my slots. The BOND office was closed today so I couldn’t give them the news that I’m going to be away again. Maybe in the interim they will have found another volunteer.
And to finish my day I got to work on Pat’s accounting. I have to wait for a couple more statements to come in, but I’m hopeful that I can have both the GST and the year-end paperwork off to the accountant before we leave.
You will have noticed that I finished a book and now I’m on a hunt for a new one. Do I dare start the new (and very long) Gabaldon before our trip? It is too heavy to pack along, but nothing else from the shelf is really calling me. I guess it wouldn’t be so very bad if I had to spend a day or two on the back step reading just so I could get it done before we leave. I’ve loaded a few books on my iPad for our trip, but I don’t want to start them until I’m on the plane.
I’ll drop off my book at the library, drop Carola’s card on her doorstep (if she isn’t home) and then, hopefully, I’ll get another yoga sock finished tonight.
