Except for the times I pass a mirror, I’m rather enjoying staying home for this extended period of time. Even on the days when I don’t have a “job” to do, I often find a reason to go out one place or another.
I had a late start in my studio today. I spent the first couple of hours of the morning finishing up the hand stitching on a few cards. I got them wrapped and addressed and then moved on to my next card project. I had it finished and wrapped by noon so I took a break. Most of my May cards are going to be late. I have a stack by the door waiting to go to the Post Office, and by the time I’m ready to go out and about some of them will be almost a week late. Oh well, better late than never I guess.
After lunch I went to work on my Farmer’s Wife sampler blocks. I have my first ten (of 111) blocks finished so it was time to print off some new patterns and pick some fabrics. I enjoy going through Mum’s scraps, although I’m pretty sure Deloise has put a few of her scraps in the bin as well. I’m not necessarily matching a fabric to the block; it is more a matter of finding a fabric that catches my eye and then checking to see if I have enough for the block. If I think I have enough then I have to choose the other fabric in the block from my own stash. Today’s block was done entirely from Mum’s scraps though.
There is no doubt in my mind that working on a block a day is the only way I’m going to get this quilt finished. There are still a number of cards to be done for the month, and a new set of reminders for my June cards will be popping up in a week. With one card and one sampler block every day, I’m not getting very far on my “main” project. I have a lot of work to do for the Guild too before the next meeting and before the wind-up party.
I think I’ll be able to get the pair of socks I’ve been working on finished tonight. Stacia passed along our Grandmother’s knitting bag and I’m anxious to clean up the mess of wool I have by my chair downstairs and move a new knitting project (and only one project) into it.
