It was a long day yesterday. We thought my appointment was at noon, but when they called to remind us of the appointment they said “see you when the ferry gets in”. We decided to take a chance and headed for the doctor’s office as soon as we got off the ferry. Although the assistant made a comment about being early, they saw me right away and I was done and out by noon. Sadly, with the new ferry schedule we had to wait until 6:30 PM for a ferry home. I had several spots removed from my face and, although I’m not in much pain today, I do look a mess. Some places have stitches (that will be removed next week) and others are just burn marks. I decided after one glimpse in the mirror that I was cancelling all public engagements for at least a week.
So that meant that there was no Red Cross shift today. I called the convenor early this morning and she said she would work my shift as she is at the hospital for crafts on Thursday morning. That was very helpful. I left a message with the BOND group, but I haven’t heard back from them. I have missed so many in the last six weeks they’ll be wondering if I’m worth keeping on as a volunteer. I had planned a trip to the fabric store with Carola tomorrow but I’ve cancelled that too. I doubt I will go to the bee next week because even if the burn wounds have healed I’ll still have black stitches in several spots.
Of course when you know you can’t go out there are a million “little” things you want to go out for. I wanted to get a new book from the library but that will have to wait. I keep thinking I have to get to the dollar store to pick up a chain for my glasses; I take them off for a lot of my sewing and then I don’t have them at hand when I need them. Stacia and Deloise can attest (without photos please) that I tried to string them with wool but that was unsuccessful (other than for a good laugh). I have things for the post office; hopefully by tomorrow I’ll have a few more items and maybe I can persuade Pat to take them for me.
I’m managing to eat with a straw or a small spoon in the side of my mouth; porridge for breakfast, soup for lunch, and Pat said he’d make me an omelette for supper.
