I was all ready for the bee today; it was nice to be back sewing with the ladies. Sticking to my plan, I had a card top cut and ready to go, as well as another of my Farmer’s Wife blocks. I’d made the card top before and was so confident I knew what I was doing I decided to take some shortcuts. Not a good idea! The shortcut I took didn’t work as expected (and I should have known better) so I was ripping and re-stitching within an hour of my arrival! Fortunately I was able to save the fabric in the pieces I had done wrong as I didn’t bring any extra material with me.

Up next was my Farmer’s Wife block. This one really was easy; just one unit to the entire paper-pieced block. I was finished the block by lunch time. Although the purple in the darker fabrics didn’t bring out as much of the colour in the lighter fabric as I had hoped, I’m satisfied with it.

After lunch I moved on to my bag project. I started this months ago and I have been hauling it to and from the bee every week. I knew that my first step was going to involve some ripping out, and I got that done and settled in to restitch. I was only about half-way through the seam when I realized I hadn’t changed the thread colour so more ripping was involved. After making those corrections I only had time to move partway into the next step before it was time to pack up and come home. It’s a good thing I don’t plan to use this bag until Christmas!

We’re off to the Island tomorrow on the first ferry; I have a medical appointment in Campbell River. Because Wednesday is the day the ferry schedule is changed we won’t get home until 8:30, so don’t look for a post from me tomorrow.
