I prefer chocolates to bombs

Friday, April 11, 2014

I moved into triple digits in Candy Crush Saga this morning. Although the jellies remain, I’m plagued now by bombs rather than those chocolate squares. Bombs have to be cleared within a specific number of moves and if they aren’t cleared you lose, even if you have twenty more moves left. This is going to be quite a challenge.

I got my cards, parcels and papers sent off through the Post Office today. I was happy that they are still accepting my “old” stamps; new stamps are $1 each if bought as a single, but only eighty-five cents if purchased in a package of ten. I didn’t ask if there is a further discount for a roll of stamps. I asked why my Express parcel wasn’t returned to me rather than sitting for three weeks before delivery. She said that because all the sorting is done by machine, anything that can’t be read (as in a wrong postal code) will be diverted off to another location. Sorting at that “other” location is based on availability of staff and how many items they have to deal with. The postal clerk laughed when I told her what I had done; she said she woke up at midnight last night knowing that the parcel she sent her grandson yesterday didn’t even have a postal code on it (she was going to look it up before she put it in the mail)!

My stitching challenge is down to the final steps. Every step is hard and, while I’m doing it, I convince myself I’ve ruined the whole thing. By the time I finish the section I’ve decided I’ve done okay and carry on. I can’t say I’m enjoying the work, but I will enjoy passing them along!
