Was I avoiding it?

At the last minute last night I added the pattern and fabric for Gavin’s birthday card into my bee project bag. My thought was that I would work on my bag project (left over from last week) and, if there was time, I’d move on to Gavin’s card. As it turned out I never even opened my bag project. I knew the first step on the bag would be to rip out one of the pockets that I stitched wrong last week. And who wants to start the day fixing a mistake?

I worked on Gavin’s card all day, but it is totally finished. I still have two more cards to do for the Grandchildren and then I’ll have to start on the adult birthdays in April. I also have a pizza box that needs to be done for the end of the month, but I know the pattern I’m using so that should go quickly. I also need to get all my fabric cut for our sewing week; hopefully the birthday presents and sewing projects can all go out on the bus early next week. There are at least two other projects on my list for completion before my trip, but I have a feeling some of those may have to be postponed. Tomorrow I hope to get the binding done on my Wonky Stars quilt.

One of our Junior Guild members joined us for the bee today. To add insult to my bag-making skills, she completed her entire bag (start to finish) in just a few hours. Mind you, her bag didn’t have pockets (mine has two and I had to stitch each of them twice because of the mistakes I made). Did I mention Abbey is on Spring Break from elementary school! I’d have been embarrassed to pull my bag out and have it compared to hers.

I stopped at the Dollar store on my way home from quilting and then Carola twisted my arm and we went up to the fabric store. Carola had something she needed for a project, but I was just being a good neighbour and driving her. So why did it cost me money? I picked up three pieces of yardage in Lainey’s sale basket, as well as a panel for a Winnie the Pooh book.   I’ve seen quilters make quilts out of the pages of these books, but I think I’ll stick to making the actual book. Trent’s little one will be a year in September – that should give me just about enough time to get it made!

Time to get started on my Guild blog and then I’ll get back to my knitting tonight.
