I’ve had a lovely long day in my studio and I have something to show for it!

I had a long chat with Diane this morning and then got busy sewing. I listened to the men’s hockey on the radio while I whipped up (and ripped out) a couple more Wonky Star blocks. Only six left to go! By the time they are done I should have the hang of it.
After lunch and a bit of grocery shopping I got down to the real work of the day. I tried to renew my library book but, since I wasn’t able to, I will have to get it finished before the end of the day Monday. I’ll have a good afternoon of reading if I don’t fall asleep in the sunshine that is streaming through the windows!

We don’t have “live” TV so we haven’t watched much of the Olympics. We have hooked Pat’s iPad to the TV in the last couple of days and watched a bit of the action. Today is my accounting day and I listened to the Canada-US Women’s hockey game while I did my work. It certainly made my task more pleasant, although the Americans were winning when I headed downstairs to get ready for my Red Cross Shift. There were only six minutes left in the game but I turned the radio on so I could catch the end. I was thrilled that they managed to tie the game up. I stretched it out for as long as I could, but I had to head off to my shift when they were only a few minutes into the overtime period.
I had a quiet shift today, but there is always so much “other” work to do that I’m never caught up. I had to make a detour on my way home and go back to the theatre. I left my rain hat there last night so I wanted to pick it up. Not that it looks like rain today – it is very bright, sunny and spring-like.
As soon as I got home I checked the computer and saw that Canada won the gold medal. I’m glad for all the team, but especially happy for the long-time team members who will be retiring this year. Will the men’s team be able to do the same? Go Canada Go!
I have a Guild demo tonight; we’ll learn how to use gel pens in our quilting.
I’ve not been a fan of Matthew McConaughey; I could never get past his southern drawl. This movie has changed my mind though.
McConaughey plays the role of Ron Woodroof a man who has been given a month to live after he is diagnosed with AIDS. Rather than give in to his disease he begins researching the effective drugs that are available around the world. He forms the Dallas Buyers Club and makes these drugs available to its members. He is fighting for his life and the lives of the club members, but he is hampered by the established medical community and the government regulators.
