Lazy day

Sunday, February 2, 2014

Today would have been a good pyjama day. I slept late and it was past ten before I even thought about getting dressed and having breakfast. Friends borrowed my big coffee pot yesterday for a party last night (yes, I was invited by declined to go alone) and I thought they might return it to me today. I’d hate for them to catch me in my PJs.

TableI have almost finished my Valentine table topper. I did the straight line quilting (and blocking) on it before breaking for a late lunch. I’ve finished the free-motion quilting and just have the binding left. I don’t like my quilting to show on my projects so I had to change threads quite often depending on what part I was stitching on. My new table set up worked well, although this piece wasn’t very big and wouldn’t have been a challenge had I not had the desktop to drape it on. I’m going to do a machine binding on the piece so I should be able to have it on my table by supper time (well my suppertime anyway)!

I’ve ripped Pat’s socks back to the point where the heel needs to go, and I’ve added the string that I think is going to show me where to put the heel in later. It will be relaxing just to get back to some straight knitting again. But first I’ll have to sort out my quiche recipe for BOND tomorrow.

My day in pictures

It’s a good thing a picture is worth a thousand words because I don’t have many words to share today! Here’s a look at my day (click on any of the images to enlarge them).

ReservedThese are the Reserved signs I’ve been working on for our House Concert. I did more quilting on them that I thought I would as I stitched some of the lines in the characters.

FabricI went up to the fabric store to pick up the backing fabric I put on hold yesterday (the pink). There are six yards of pink (at 108″ wide) so more than enough for the one quilt I have it in mind for. And it was on sale for $6.50/yard. The green and yellow are for a different project, although the colours all look good together.

HeartsLast fall I bought a bag of scraps from a fellow Guild member and these two Buggy Barn Heart blocks were included. I put them together for a quick table topper for myself. I’ll get at the quilting tomorrow and they should be done in time for Valentines.
