Author: Diana Gabaldon
UPDATE: May 2, 2023
I just finished re-reading this book and, even on the third pass, I loved it. I’m confused though as to who the “new character” was, and I really don’t remember anyone being introduced. I couldn’t help but compare some of the scenes to those depicted in the Netflix series. So far I haven’t found many things to take exception to but there are certainly things that have been left out.
I was pretty sure I had read this book in the Outlander series, but I thought it would be a good refresher to reread it. The first chapter of the book seemed familiar as I was re-introduced to the characters, but that is where the familiarity ended. I had no recollection of the rest of the story and thoroughly enjoyed it.
At one point in the story though a new character is introduced and there was something about it that made me think she was important. She didn’t appear again in the story, but the last chapters gave me an inkling of where she fits in, so I think I must have read the next book in the series too. There was one other section near the end of the book where I knew what was going to happen before it did.
This was a huge book (over 1400 pages), It took me two library renewals and a lot of time to get through it.
