Good deed or good excuse

What a lovely day. The fog has lifted and we can see for ourselves that the ocean hasn’t drained away! The small whitecaps on the blue water are a treat to see after so many days of grey.

While we had breakfast this morning I told Pat that, if he wanted, I could probably get his knitted socks finished before he leaves tomorrow. I had just a bit of Guild work to do and then I headed to my knitting. It’s been a long time since I enjoyed a day of knitting. We don’t have “regular” TV so I didn’t have to deal with annoying daytime television. I picked the first episode in a series called Shakespeare Uncovered. Ethan Hawke was the commentator and he described how he got himself into the character of MacBeth. There are several more in the series, with different actors preparing for different roles, and I think I’ll watch more of them.

When that finished I switched to YouTube and watched a few quilting videos. The first one showed me a new way of piecing a binding. With my community quilt I have, by accident, used the piecing method the presenter was explaining. When she stitches the binding she does her corners a bit different so I’ll have to give that a try. Next up was how to do a binding that is totally machine stitched – I will definitely try her method on that same community quilt.

As I settled in for what I thought was my last session of knitting, I watched a newer version of Wuthering Heights. Still the same story, but with newer actors and actresses. I loved it every bit as much as I’ve loved every other version.

After trying on the socks, Pat has decided he’d like them a little longer. I doubt I will be able to get them finished tonight, but I certainly enjoyed my day trying!
