A definite advantage

I was just finishing up my morning fun on my iPad when Pat suggested we go out for breakfast. When we go to Magpie’s it is often on the weekend and it is usually very busy. It wasn’t crowded this morning and we managed to waste most of the morning over breakfast and coffee. We made a stop at the post office on the way home and I mailed off the very last of (I promise) my Christmas gifts.

Yesterday, before my Red Cross shift, I cut out the appliqué pieces I needed for a new project. I stitched together the background pieces before breaking for lunch. Well it was lunch time but there was no way I felt the need for any food so I settled in for my reading time. I’m reading a book that is set in Venice, my favourite city from our Italian vacation, and I’m enjoying it more than I expected. I thought it would be interesting to read about the city and, perhaps, recognize the names of a few of the places, but I didn’t think I’d be as caught up in the mystery as I am.

Blanket StitchI don’t usually enjoy appliqué work. I forget that Ruby has a lovely blanket stitch setting and I actually had fun this afternoon stitching around the various pieces. I may want to do a few more practice pieces in the near future – Diane has challenged me to make her birthday card using the blanket stitch. I’ll have no problem with a pattern. I have two books that contain lots of projects I could incorporate the blanket stitch into.

I’ll be working on my socks again tonight. We are almost at the end of the Sons of Anarchy series. I hope it doesn’t take too long to get the final season of the show on Netflix.
