We listened to another “best books of the year” show on the radio this morning and I mentioned that I should set aside one day a week to sit and read (thinking maybe today would be the day). Pat said a better plan would be to set aside a couple of hours a day to read. My first thought was that I should make that my new year’s resolution but then thought, why wait? It won’t work on BOND Mondays, or sewing-bee Tuesdays or Red Cross Thursdays, but I should be able to manage the rest of the days.
I spent the morning clearing out one side of my studio. I had a birthday card to finish but it took a bit of clearing away before I found where I had put it the last time I worked on it. By then I was enjoying my Christmas music and continued tidying until one side of my studio was done. The other half still needs work, but I’ll get there.
The very last of my Christmas parcels are wrapped and ready for the mail tomorrow. I managed to fit in an hour of reading before a very late lunch. I went back to my reading after lunch and I can see that I’ve made good progress on my book. I have stacks of books everywhere waiting my attention – beside the bed, in the closet, in my night table, not to mention all the books in the bookshelves!
Time now to move along to something else. The danger in sitting for a couple of hours is that it is difficult to get moving again.
