The first one

I was out the door before nine this morning. No, I wasn’t off doing something fun, I went out to work at cleaning up the yard for winter. It was such a nice day, cloudy but warm enough to work with just a sweater on. I cut down all the dahlias, picked a few weeds, and pulled a couple of blackberries. Before I knew it a couple of hours had passed. I ended up with four bags of compost material that we will take to the community compost once Pat is home. Who knows, I may do a bit more work before he is back. Lord knows there is plenty more to do!

The rest of my day was much quieter. I spent all afternoon working to finish a couple of Christmas gifts. It will probably take the rest of the evening to finish up the last one. I want to get everything in the mail on Monday so that means wrapping on the weekend, and if the gifts aren’t done you can’t wrap them.

We received our first Christmas card (and parcel) today. No matter how far ahead of things I think I am, when that first card arrives I feel like I’m late. Diane has always been very organized, and I was glad I could tell her that she had a parcel arriving within a day or two as well.
