Behind schedule

I had great plans for my day. This morning I’d finish The Slice! project and get a start on my Hallowe’en project. After lunch I would finish the Hallowe’en project and make a birthday card. By evening I’d be finishing the binding on one of my Christmas projects and, perhaps, finish up another scarf. Tomorrow morning was set for laundry, cleaning and packing and my Red Cross shift in the afternoon. I was pretty sure I could find a project to work on in the evening, but I’d go to bed early to be ready for my trip Friday morning.

Here’s how my day actually went. I chose a paper-pieced block for The Slice! because I enjoy paper-piecing and it is pretty quick. I was concerned about having enough fabric for what I wanted to make, but I measured it out and was okay. When I started sewing, if it could go wrong it did go wrong. I decided one piece of the pattern didn’t work and I ended up designing that one piece on my own. I didn’t do a very good job, and I’m not happy with the results, but I’m out of my share of the fabric so I can’t start over.

I could blame my problem on a lot of things. I had three calls from the woman doing the Guild membership for the year. I eventually told her I’d create the form she wanted because she’s ‘not very good at this computer stuff’. I also had a call from the Red Cross with problems to solve, and a drop-in visit from the former Guild Treasurer. It was 1PM before I was done what I thought would take me until coffee time.

My Hallowe’en project is also paper-pieced and I had a few, but not as many, problems. It makes me think perhaps I was the problem all along! Carola came for coffee this afternoon and that pretty much ended my sewing. I could continue, but I’m not really in the mood.

So I’ll have dinner, revise my schedule and start all over tomorrow!
