It feels like a long time since I had a day at home to work on exactly what I wanted to do. I should preface that by saying that Ive been stitching the same Christmas pattern over, and over, and over almost every day of the week since July. It has recently become more of a “have to” than a “want to”. I finished off the last of those projects today and was thrilled to be able to move on. I’ve been doing some piecing each week at the bee, but today I got two items ready for the next step – quilting. That felt like a huge load off my shoulders.
To celebrate I started a brand new pattern. It still falls within the Christmas theme but it is nice to have a bit of a challenge. And it has been challenging. The pattern calls for partial seams, which I’ve been able to avoid up to now. They didn’t give me any problems, but I had a bit of trouble getting the fabrics aligned in the right way. I had to take out two of four seams on the first piece I did.
I also got some housework done today. There was a nice breeze this morning so I did a couple of loads of laundry. They didn’t finish drying though before the rain got close enough for me to bring my drying stand inside. There really hasn’t been much rain so far, but it remains windy and very cloudy. I’m rather enjoying the cooler day.
Pat left for Edmonton this morning so, in theory, I should have the whole week to do what I want. The week is already pretty full though and I don’t have a single day that doesn’t have something booked.
I’m going to try to finish all the piecing on my projects tonight. Once that is done I’ll clean both Ruby and Pearl2 and put them away until after the weekend. I’m flying to Saskatoon on Thursday so I can attend Aunt Dorothy’s funeral.
