Today was BOND day and quesadillas were on the menu. I’ve made them several times before so I wasn’t too concerned about the prep. Connie, one of the BOND coordinators, is on vacation but they had hired someone to fill her spot. I’ve worked with this woman before when she helped out with the Christmas dinner.
I was a bit late leaving the office as Marcia likes to chat. I finished the shopping and was headed to the hospital only a few minutes later than usual. I had just unpacked the groceries when the file alarms went off. Everyone from the floor met at the Muster Station, the Reception area just outside of our BOND room. They announced that it was a drill, but we couldn’t go back to work until the All Clear signal was given. By then I was twenty minutes behind schedule.
I think someone forgot to tell Jeanette what her “Connie” duties were because she spent most of her time in the kitchen helping me. Although the quesadillas are easy to prepare there is a lot of prep work and I was behind on the fruit and veggie trays. With Jeanette’s help with the fruit and condiments we had lunch on the table on time.
Today’s presentation was on Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder and the ladies had lots of questions. It was after three before they wrapped up the session. I never interrupt the presentation to clear dishes, but Jeanette didn’t have a problem doing it. We were done packing up leftovers and clearing the dishes by the end of the presentation. That left only the tables and chairs to wipe and put away when everyone left. We were finished and back in the sunshine only a little later than usual.
Often when I come home from BOND I don’t have energy left to do anything. Not the case today. I had a bit of quilting I wanted to finish before the bee tomorrow so I came upstairs and got that done. I’ll pack up my gear tonight and I think I’ll spend the rest of the evening out on the deck with my book.
