I watched my Craftsy lesson last night and was certain I’d be able to get started on some Christmas Dresden Plates today. But first I had to verify that I needed fabric for the background on a couple of things I was making. Much to my surprise I was able to find material in my stash that worked just fine. That was good news because I hated to have to purchase more fabric, but bad news because I felt obligated to continue working on my projects.
Earlier in the week (or maybe it was last week) the steam function on my iron stopped working. You could put water into the iron but it ran out pretty much as quickly. I knew it was going, and I’d been waiting for the brand the Guild uses to come on sale. I’ve been able to use my iron without steam, but I haven’t been as happy with the results. The Craftsy class makes a point of saying you need to give the pieces a good steam pressing, so clearly I needed to go shopping.
Pat came along with me – he was looking for some electrical cords. I found a couple of irons that looked good, were mid-range in price, and had most of the functions as the ones we use at the Guild. The one I bought though was a third of the cost of the Guild irons.
When we got home from shopping we did a little flower re-arranging. Some of the pots in the carport were getting too much sun and not doing so well. We moved them to the shade beside and on the deck. Once they were deadheaded they looked a bit sad, but Pat applied some Miracle Grow so hopefully they will come back.
Tonight is Pat’s showcase at The Hub. I enjoy the featured singer, Trent Olver, and I’m hoping his wife will be there. They are expecting their first baby “sometime in the fall”. I want to make them a baby quilt and I need to get a better idea of how soon I need to start that project.
