Getting ahead of myself

Saturday, June 22, 2013

There was still a bit of paper waiting for me this morning but, thankfully, it was the fun stuff. I prepared a few quilt sheets, got some photos finished, and wrote a few draft posts for projects that are finished but not quite ready to be shared (think gifts!).

When that was done I got down to some stitching. I finished the tops on the set of placemats I’m making. The placemats weren’t even on my list of my goals for the month. Is it any wonder I don’t meet those monthly goals when I keep making additions to the list? By noon I had the backing and batting cut out for the placemats, Mario and my mystery project.

I sandwiched the placemats and took a lot of time marking half-inch grid lines for my quilting. When I started quilting I realized that my walking foot is pretty close to half an inch wide and I probably didn’t need to do all that measuring and marking. I’ll know better for my next set.

Next set? Yes, I plan to make a set for my Tickle Trunk and, while I quilted, I let my mind wander and I think I should also make a set as a donation for the raffle at our BOND Christmas party. And why not knit another baby blanket for the BOND raffle too. It used to be that I had to concentrate so hard on my quilting that I couldn’t dream up other plans. Apparently I’ve improved!

I’m hoping to finish the quilting on at least one placemat before dinner. I didn’t finish the baby blanket last night so I’ll be back to my knitting for the evening.
