A little of this and that

It was a day filled with a little of this and that, but no sewing! And I enjoyed every minute of it.

Since the past few days have been rainy and cool my coffee pod composting was piling up. It hasn’t rained for that long, but remember we’ve had a lot of company over the past week. We use a Tassimo system and, no matter how hard I try, I cannot throw all those pods in the garbage. I have a work table set up outside where I cut off the foil top and dig out the grounds for the compost. I wash the plastic pods and the foil and all of it is recycled in our regular pick ups. On a cool or rainy day it isn’t fun playing in the muck and cold water!

When that was finished I cut the rhubarb. We don’t get a lot of rhubarb in one cutting but there is usually enough to make a rhubarb and “something” crisp. Today it will be a rhubarb and apple crisp as we have more apples in the fridge than I can eat before I leave (Pat doesn’t eat apples).

I had a few errands to run so I headed out about mid-morning. I needed to pick up a few extras for the catered lunches this weekend. I hope I’ll remember not to volunteer as hostess for next year’s out of town teacher! When I think about it, I didn’t volunteer for the job this year, but I was asked if I would do it. Did they have an ulterior motive right from the start?

After lunch I spent a few hours working on my Guild year-end reports. So many of the sheets were out of date and referred to things the way they were done at the soccer centre. I’ve got the membership binder all sorted out for the folks who will do my job for me in June, and for the new committee that will be elected/appointed for the fall. I’m glad to have that job behind me.

I need to get busy on some baking now. I have that rhubarb/apple crisp to make for supper, as well as a batch of cookies and a gluten-free cake for coffee tomorrow morning. I think we may drive out to the new Farmer’s Night Market that opens today south of town. Pat will be entertaining there in a couple of weeks so we’ll go check out the set up.
