Toquenatch Creek and Falls

Wednesday, May 8, 2013

We did something today that we’ve talked about doing since we arrived – we joined the Powell River Hiking Club for a hike. This trail is part of the Sunshine Coast Trail so I can now say I’ve walked a part of this 180 km trail that rivals the West Coast Trail in difficulty and beauty. Click on the photos to enlarge them.

Toquenatch Fir estimated to be over 1000 years old!

I expected more smell from the Skunk Cabbage

There were about two dozen of us on the hike

The tide was out … way out!

We walked to Okeover Inlet where we stopped for lunch. The Laughing Oyster is around the bend on the left. Our lunch (crackers, cheese, red peppers and fruit) was much simpler than we’d have gotten there!

The trail was very well marked and we could walk it again on our own.

Lots of wildflowers along the way.
