Another great day

I’ve had another full day of stitching and I have managed to cross a couple of things off my list of goals. I finished up the Advent Calendar flimsy this morning. It’s up on my design wall again and, hopefully, it won’t sit there for too long. Perhaps it will be my Christmas in July project. ,

After cleaning up from that project I decided I had time to work on my placemats. I am trying to follow one of the lessons in my free-motion quilting class for these. I do things a bit differently than the directions call for. The instructor does her stitch-in-the-ditch using a free-motion technique. I’m much more accurate with the special foot Ruby has so I’m changing feet more often. I have to admit that my stippling has a lot more stops and starts than the lesson did. In fact the lesson from the start to where I am so far hasn’t had a thread to tie in – I guess that’s true continuous-motion quilting.

A late afternoon trip to the bank ended in us going to the pub for supper. We hoped to see a hockey game while we ate but tonight was a big (advertised) UFC night and all the TV screens had to be tuned into the fight. I have to say that no matter where you sit in the pub you have an excellent view of many big screens – even if you don’t want to see them!

Pat is out to another jazz concert tonight so I’ll try some evening sewing. The next section on my placemat calls for a paisley stitch but it might be too tricky for my tired mind.
