Lazy Monday

Monday, April 15, 2013

Because it was Pat’s birthday I took the day off from the BOND program. I had originally planned to take him out for breakfast, but he had other plans. He and a friend have been planning to get themselves into better shape and today was their first day at the gym. No problem I thought, I’ll take him out for dinner instead.

Although we go out to eat fairly often there are a couple of restaurants that we hardly ever go to. They are more upscale (expensive) so we reserve them for special occasions. I thought we’d go to the Alchemist which we haven’t been to since Pat’s birthday last year. When I checked though they were closed on Mondays. No problem, we’ll go to the Tree Frog which we haven’t been to since Stacia and Deloise were here. Sadly, they too take Monday off.

I settled on taking him to the Shinglemill Pub for lunch. It is a favourite spot, although it was too cool to sit out on the deck today. For supper I made him one of the most popular BOND recipes – Macaroni and Cheese. It seemed odd to be making such a small batch, but it tasted just as good as I remember it; Pat liked it too.

Pat is off to a concert this evening. I suppose I should be spending the evening with him being his birthday and all, but he’s off to a jazz concert. I recognize the talent involved in jazz but after about five minutes it gets on my nerves. I’m sure there will be others there that he knows, and we’ll have cake together when he gets home.
