For some unknown reason I was up for a few hours in the middle of the night. Perhaps at the concert last night I misunderstood which pot of coffee was decaf. I read a bit, played a game (or two) and then headed back to bed about three o’clock. I made up for my lack of sleep by staying in bed until almost nine this morning.
Pat came with me to the optometrists this morning and we picked out a new set of frames for me. We had narrowed the choice down to two pairs but, after talking to the optical dispensary technician, there was only one frame that was suitable. Fortunately it was the frame that was 40% off! It will take a couple of weeks to get the new pair in but in the meantime I’m fine with my old ones. I take them off for most of my close needlework, or else put a pair of dollar store magnifiers over them.
Since the beginning of the month I have been looking at a reminder on my calendar to get our income tax papers off to the accountant. I took some time to get them sorted out this morning – the job was easier because I had collected them in a previous round of cleaning up. There were a few other things that needed to be taken care of and I’m happy to say that I’m all caught up on my paperwork. I wonder how long that will last.
I started quilting Mario and Luigi this afternoon. It is going well, but there are quite a few ends to tie in and lots of thread colour changes. I ordered a free motion quilting book a week ago and it arrived in the mail today. I think it is just what I need – it shows lots of quilting designs and has lots of photos so I know where to start and what part of the circles, leaves and flowers get done in what order. I can’t put it to use just yet though as this round of quilting is all straight lines.
Am I drawn to patterns that have straight lines, or do I just decide that straight lines suit the design best because I’m nervous about free motion?
