There is something about my paperwork – it must be multiplying while I’m busy elsewhere. I spent all morning updating the Guild website and updating my project book. I was determined to have some fun today though so I started to pull fabrics for a new project. I quit for lunch when I realized I didn’t have any fabric in one of the colours I needed.
I had just finished lunch and was having a cup of coffee when Pat returned from his piano lesson and told me the Church up the street was having a Garage Sale. I quickly put on my rain hat and jacket and headed out. I wasn’t looking for anything in particular, but ended up coming home with a box and an armful.
I picked up some glasses for ten cents each – we have had to use mason jars for glasses at our recent House Concerts. There were boxes of books but I only brought home two – The Book of Secrets (MG Vassanji) and A Patchwork Planet (Anne Tyler). I hated to pick up too many because I’m headed out to the Friends of the Library book sale tomorrow! I also got a couple of items for my studio/office. And, best of all, I found a 100% cotton shirt in the colour I was missing.
I’ve been reading a lot about pixelated quilts and when I found a free pattern I decided to give it a try. So far it is quite simple, although I think I’m supposed to have small squares of each colour. I chose to do it the quick way by using strips wherever I could.
I’m off to make a rhubarb crisp for supper. Relax, it isn’t fresh from my garden – it is the last package I had in the freezer. My rhubarb in the garden is growing well and I think I’ll be picking it within a week or two.
