We had a wonderful trip to Victoria. The weather wasn’t as cooperative as we would have liked, but we didn’t let the showers stop us. It was great to spend some time with Stacia and Ron. Stacia helped me pick out fabric for one of my patterns, and she purchased a couple of patterns herself. I have wanted to make a black and white quilt since I started quilting, and we found the perfect pattern and fabric kit. Stacia also introduced me to a Button and Needlework shop. I had to check my receipts at the end of the trip to be sure I hadn’t spent more in the needlework shop than I had in the quilt shop!
In retrospect it seems like all we did was eat and shop. The B&B had fresh muffins every morning along with bacon and eggs, fruit, toast, and lots of other choices. Our suite was well stocked with three different kinds of homemade cookies too! We’d meet Stacia and Ron for coffee or lunch, depending on the time of day, we’d go off and do a little shopping and then we’d all meet up for dinner. Stacia was enjoying the gluten-free menus in the restaurants we chose.
The Leonard Cohen concert was a highlight. He sounds just as good as he did when we saw him a few years ago in Vancouver, but I thought he seemed a little more frail. He was full of energy though and they played for over three hours. Stacia and Ron had second row seats; we were a little further back in row twelve.
We arrived home on the 4:30 ferry yesterday and I had a little less than an hour before rushing off to the last quilt show meeting and the Guild business meeting. There were no last-minute issues and I was ready for today’s set up.
I was at Dwight Hall from 9:30 this morning until about 5:00 this afternoon. I helped take in items for the Boutique, and then I helped set up the boutique tables. Once the tables were set and draped, I climbed on top of them and hung the quilts that were being offered for sale. The vendors arrived, as scheduled, at 2 PM and I helped them move their items from their vehicles to the sales area. I had two of the five vendors that were happy with their spaces! At the end of the day though they are all moved in and I’m sure they will make some sales.
I thought I had four quilts in the show, but as I did a tour around the hall I noticed that I had work showing in a few other places.
