Too late to change our mind

A couple of weeks ago we were talking about tomorrow evening’s House Concert. Pat will be playing at a benefit concert in the afternoon and several of the other players will be attending our House Concert. We thought it might be fun to have the other performers and their partners come for dinner between the two shows. Then we decided it would be too rushed to get dinner and get everything ready for a concert in the evening. We didn’t have room for everyone to sit and eat either, so we discarded the idea.

Then earlier this week the idea resurfaced and we decided we would go ahead with dinner between concerts. There is still no solution to places to sit, although the chairs will all be set up for the evening concert. It will be rushed, but there should be lots of people around who can help us get ready. With the performers and partners, as well us ourselves and Lindsay Jane we thought we’d have about twenty. Then someone told someone else and we were up to 22. Then someone is bringing an extra guest and we’re at 24 at the last count. I’m having second (or third) thoughts and wish we could go back to plan one which was to skip the dinner.

Pat made a big pot of chilli this afternoon and we’re planning a vegetarian pasta dish as an alternative. We have some buns, and I’ll make some cornbread this evening. We’ve got salad ready to toss and lots of pickles to add to the table. I did the cleaning today so I think we’re as set as we can be.

It is an indication of how stressed I’m feeling when I do some quilting to relax!
