This was a free day for me and I was looking forward to getting started on the quilting for my appliqued flowers. First up though was a call to Diane for her birthday. An hour and a half later I was still in my pj’s, but felt so good after a lovely long chat! And as a special birthday gift to her (through me), a pod of orcas swam through the Strait while we were chatting.
Next up I needed to wash out a couple of spots on my Disappearing Nine Patch. I noticed a few black spots when I was tying my ends in, and I took care of them right away. I’m not sure what caused them but I think they had been there for awhile. When I was finishing the binding last night I noticed a few more smaller spots so I got rid of them this morning. I needed a label for the back of the quilt and I wanted to make a traditional nine patch to show how it disappeared into the quilt. I was out of one of the fabrics, but I had a similar pink colour so I used that.
When the label was finished I started setting up my new printer, but I was interrupted when a friend stopped by for tickets to our next house concert. She stopped for a coffee and it was after two before I got back upstairs. It took me longer than I expected to get the wireless connection on the printer working, and then I was unable to get the paper to feed without jamming. I searched everywhere and tried a number of different solutions before I called Canon to get some help. It turned out there was a piece of plastic that held the toner cartridge securely in place and I hadn’t removed it. Everything else had been taped down and since this piece of plastic was a little tougher to remove I thought it belonged. I’m up and running now, but I can’t find anything I need to print at this particular moment.
It’s too late in the day to start quilting. I’m expecting one more ticket holder to show up at the door and then I’ll relax with some knitting or crocheting for the evening.
