It wasn’t really my turn for BOND today but the other volunteer wasn’t available due to illness in her family. We knew about the illness last week so it didn’t come as a surprise today. I was making tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches. My only experience with homemade tomato soup was when Dad made it on piano lesson night. I’m not a big fan of tomato soup of any kind but I used a simple recipe made with tomato juice and it turned out fine. It was difficult getting the sandwiches grilled with only one pan. I took an extra pan but one burner on the stove held the big soup pot and only one frying pan would fit on the stove top. It held three sandwiches but as quickly as a batch hit the table they were gone – obviously they were popular with the ladies.
I hoped to get a bit of shopping done after BOND and I had a quilter coming to the house at four. We were late (or slow) clearing up after lunch so I came straight home. After I got my Guild work assignment I headed back out to get the shopping done. I needed a few things for quilting tomorrow, I was out of the coffee I like and there were quite a few other things on the list.
Pat went out for the evening and I had these thoughts (but didn’t act on them):
- I thought I would do my Guild work
- I thought I would cut out the binding for a couple of Community Quilts
- I thought I would cut the border for my tie quilt
- I thought I would collect my supplies for the bee tomorrow
I think what I’m really going to do is this:
- Make a cup of coffee
- Put on my pj’s
- Curl up on the couch and read
