I’ve spent almost all day in my studio working on my applique quilt. Just as I had the center of the piece finished (the flower and sashing rows stitched together) a friend called and asked if I wanted to come for tea. Shirley is a Guild member and was a wealth of information and encouragement when I was doing my string quilt. We recently did the One Block Wonder class together and realized we were practically neighbours. I was at the perfect spot for a break so I walked up to her house (just a couple of blocks away).
I had a lovely look-around at her sewing room and at the many quilts and wall hangings she has scattered around her home. We had a great chat and, when it was time for me to leave, she set out walking with me as she wanted to get in a bit of a walk before the day was over.
I had hoped to have time to get all the border fabric on the piece but it is past six and time for me to call it quits. The border pieces are cut and two of them have been sewn in place. I’m making a mitered corner and that takes a bit more thinking than I’m capable of at the end of the day!
