Clearing the deck

The Guild meeting (and quilt show deadline) motivated me to get down to business and get my show quilts finished. I was up at five (no idea why) and I planned to work on my Sundays, Weddings and Funerals project. When I came up to my studio I decided that I should take care of a few small items that are also on my list and that have earlier deadlines.

So the Mystery Quilt has been packed away; all the new Christmas photos have been put in the proper frames; a couple of new birthday cards have been completed; and I’ve made a good start on a birthday gift. No work done on any of my show quilts, but they aren’t going anywhere!

I had a visit with Margaret this afternoon. When I went to see her yesterday she was all tucked away in bed and I didn’t want to wake her. She was in bed when I arrived today but quickly got herself into her wheelchair and we went down to the main room for a visit. She was much more like her “old” self today – it made me so happy. She was telling me stories about the people around her and seemed very chipper. She says she is a bit nervous about her move but at the same time she says she will be glad to be around her family. I thought I might stop in again after my quilting class tomorrow, but I don’t think Margaret likes the goodbyes any more than I do. We had our hugs and said our goodbyes – we’ll keep in touch by mail.

And speaking of tomorrow’s class I’d better get busy and gather my tools and fabric.
