They found me

I spent all morning at my computer. I had two reports due for the Guild Meeting tonight and quite a few Guild website updates to get done in order to have something to write about in one of those reports!

Then I was off to my First Red Cross shift of the year. There were no returns, but knee and hip surgeries are back in full swing and I had several clients in for equipment.

I had spoken to the Red Cross folks at Head Office a couple of months ago about computerizing our system (to bring it out of the pencil and eraser card method we currently use). The last I heard they wanted the Auxiliary to buy a laptop. My thought was, “Well that will never happen” and sort of forgot about it. A couple of days ago Head Office called to say they have a laptop for us and they wanted to know when I would be available for a training session. I’ll have to fit that into my schedule as well as plan for extra shifts to get the inventory entered. They also expect me to train the other volunteers. That could prove difficult as even the convener says she doesn’t think any of them will want to learn the system (or change how we do it now).

I had enough time this afternoon to get the boxes out of the shed and finish cleaning up the Christmas decorations. I managed to consolidate things and I got rid of three boxes. Of course ten minutes after I had the shed closed and locked I found my Christmas music and a couple of Christmas books that I’d forgotten.

Tonight was the Guild’s quilt show meeting followed by our regular business meeting. It is scary to think that by next business meeting we need to have our quilt show entry forms completed (with photos). I’d better get busy if I hope to have my three quilts finished. So much for that list I made yesterday!
