I started taking down the Christmas decorations this morning. I have them collected in a couple of spots (on the coffee table and couch in the living room). I thought I had left the boxes in the back bedroom but it turns out I put them back in the shed so I’ll dig those out tomorrow. Every year I think I have found a method that will make things easier to get out next year, but every year I change that plan so I obviously haven’t got it right yet!
I had a fellow quilter stop by this morning. Leslie is in charge of the Boutique at the quilt show and she needed a bit of computer work done. It turned out to be very straight forward and I have just finished it up now. I’m making a note to myself – don’t volunteer for the Boutique next quilt show as her binder of instructions was huge.
I haven’t written a “regular” entry for a few days so I have an update on Margaret. When I went to visit her on New Year’s Eve I was quite surprised at how she had failed over the few days I was away. She says she is hardly able to walk any longer and I know she spends most of her mornings in bed. Her niece from Edmonton is visiting and Margaret has decided to move to Edmonton with her when she leaves on Sunday. The family have been talking about this and they are all set for her. Margaret will move in with her nephew who has a five-bedroom home on one level.
I know Margaret is happy to be going with family, but I also think she is a bit anxious as to how things will be when she gets there. She tells me her niece says not to worry about a thing – they have it all taken care of. Every time I see Margaret she wants to say good-bye and I’m avoiding it until the last minute. Today she insisted on getting up out of her wheelchair and giving me a hug. I’ll see her a few more times before she leaves, and I’m going to have a very difficult time when I do have to say goodbye.
I did a bit more sewing on my Mystery Quilt today. I have the 80 quarter-square triangles finished but they need to be pressed and trimmed. Once those are done I’ll be on to Clue #1 (out of 10). One of the blogs I read suggested making a monthly note of four things that you want to accomplish in the month. Just four things shouldn’t be that hard, but narrowing my list down to four wasn’t easy. I’m sure it will be even more difficult to stick to the list!
